On my way home today, I had the top down and the music up. When I put the top down in the grocery store parking lot, the young man in the bright yellow sports car commented on how cool it was how the hard top just slid inside the trunk. I agreed. We smiled and went on with our day.
As I turned off the main drag towards my home, I saw an identical vehicle on the other side of the road, going the opposite direction. She had her top down and the music up too. She smiled at me and I smiled back. She waved and I did the same.
I rode the rest of the way home with a smile on my face. It’s so wonderful, in a world often filled with conflict and tension, we can find a common ground in the simplest of things…a car…music…the freedom we feel with the top down. It creates a connection, a sense of brotherhood/sisterhood with others.
What common ground can you find today with someone you’ve not been seeing eye-to-eye on? Where can you come together and connect through a smile and a wave? How can you fill your heart and theirs full of joy?
